Week 2: Jan. 18-24
JERICHO
Obey | Unite | Align
Obey | Unite | Align
This week we turn our focus to our church family: New Covenant.
Just as Israel moved from their individual households to march together around Jericho, we also unite our hearts as one household made of households, as one family of families.
Together we pray:
“Lord, unite our New Covenant church family—many households becoming one heart, one voice, and one people following God together.”
This week helps us listen for God’s direction as a church, walk in unity, strengthen relationships, receive fresh vision, and prepare for the new works He is calling us into in 2026.
Joshua 6:1-5 (NKJV)
1 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. 2 And the Lord said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. 3 You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. 4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”
Israel’s first step toward Jericho was not individual—it was corporate. God called them to move in unity, at the same pace, with the same heart.
The church is a spiritual family. God leads us forward together, not separately.
This week, we ask God to unite New Covenant—to align our hearts, strengthen our relationships, and knit us together in love and purpose.
Action:
As the Holy Spirit leads, pray for someone in our church by name today.
Reflection Question:
How is God inviting me to help strengthen unity at New Covenant?
Child-Friendly Version:
Ask kids: “Who at church can we pray for today?”
Psalm 133:1 — “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
Lord, help me walk in unity with my church family. Heal relationships, deepen love, and align my heart with Yours. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
Philippians 2:2 — “fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”
Father, unite our New Covenant family. Make us one heart, one voice, and one people following You together. Strengthen every household and bring us together in love. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
Who is God placing on my heart to pray for? To forgive?
What role do I play in seeing our church family united in purpose and vision?
Joshua 6:6–7
6 Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord.” 7 And he said to the people, “Proceed, and march around the city, and let him who is armed advance before the ark of the Lord.”
Jericho required Israel to listen carefully to God—and then obey as one.
Healthy churches are listening churches.
We listen for God’s voice in Scripture, prayer, worship, leadership, and community.
When we listen together, we move together.
Action:
Ask God: “Lord, what are You saying to our church right now?”
Reflection Question:
How can I become more attentive to God’s voice?
Child-Friendly Version:
Ask kids: “What do you think God wants our church to do or be?”
John 10:27 — “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
Lord, open my ears to Your voice. Help me listen, follow, and stay close to You. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
Revelation 2:7 — “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Holy Spirit, give New Covenant ears to hear You. Lead our pastors, leaders, and families into Your will. Unite us in trust and obedience. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
What might God be highlighting for our church?
How can I posture my heart to listen?
Joshua 6:8-9
8 So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the Lord advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them. 9 The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.
Obedience brought Israel into breakthrough. Their obedience was collective—every person had a role, and every role mattered.
God calls New Covenant to the same.
When each household obeys God in their own way, the whole church moves forward in strength.
Action:
Ask God: “Where are You inviting my household to obey You?”
Reflection Question:
What step of obedience might strengthen our church?
Child-Friendly Version:
Ask kids: “What is something God might want us to do today?”
James 1:22 — “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
Lord, give me a willing heart. Help me obey You quickly and joyfully. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
Joshua 24:15 — “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
God, make New Covenant a church that obeys You. Give us courage, unity, and joy in following Your lead. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
What is one small step of obedience God may be asking me to take today?
How does my obedience impact our church family?
Joshua 6:16, 20
16 And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the LORD has given you the city!” 20 So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
Israel worshiped together—and breakthrough followed.
Worship unifies us. It aligns our hearts, lifts our eyes, and brings God’s manifest presence into our midst.
When New Covenant worships together, God strengthens and unifies us as one people.
Action:
Spend a moment worshiping—sing a simple chorus. "I love You, Lord, and I lift my voice..." Sing in the Spirit.
Reflection Question:
How does worship unify my heart with God and my church family?
Child-Friendly Version:
Invite kids: “Let’s thank Jesus together for something He has done!”
Psalm 22:3 — “He inhabits the praises of His people.”
Lord, fill my heart with worship. Unite me with Your people in praise. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
Psalm 34:3 — “Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.”
Father, let new songs and new sounds arise from fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters worshiping together. A new song ushers in a new day. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
How does worship shift my heart?
What happens when our church worships together?
Hebrews 13:17
Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
Healthy churches pray for their leaders.
Joshua led Israel faithfully, but he could not cross Jericho’s walls alone—he needed a united people.
Today we lift our pastors, elders, staff, and ministry leaders as they shepherd New Covenant into this next season.
Action:
Pray for our pastors and leaders by name.
Reflection Question:
How can I support spiritual leadership at New Covenant?
Child-Friendly Version:
Invite kids: “Let’s pray for our pastors and teachers today!”
1 Timothy 2:1-2 — “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”
Lord, today we lift up every leader in authority—in our church, our community, our schools, and our nation. Grant them wisdom from above, courage to do what is right, and hearts that seek justice and peace. Let Your grace shape the places where they lead so that we may live quiet, peaceable, God-honoring lives. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
Ephesians 4:11-12 — “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,”
Father, thank You for the pastors and leaders You have placed in our church. Strengthen them as they equip the saints, pour into them fresh grace, and surround them with unity, rest, and joy in the work of ministry. Make our church a people who encourage, honor, and support those who shepherd us. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
How can I pray for my leaders faithfully this week?
What encouragement can I offer them?
1 Corinthians 12:12, 18
12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.
18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.
Every household in Israel mattered at Jericho.
Every household at New Covenant matters, too.
Unity is not sameness—it’s each part doing its role for the strength of the whole body.
Today we ask God where He wants our household to serve, give, love, and contribute.
Action:
Ask: “Lord, where is our place in this church family?”
Reflection Question:
What role is God inviting me or my family to take?
Child-Friendly Version:
Ask kids: “How do you think God wants us to help at church?”
Romans 12:4–5 — “We, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.”
Lord, show me my place in our church family. Help me serve with joy and humility. Pray from your heart.] In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
Ephesians 4:16 — “from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”
Father, unite our households. Knit our families together in love and purpose. Show each home its role in Your work. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.

How can my family strengthen the church?
Joshua 6:20
So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
The victory at Jericho came when the people acted as one.
Breakthrough is often a shared experience in the Body of Christ.
Today we thank God for the unity He is building at New Covenant and ask Him to continue leading us forward in faith, love, and mission.
Action:
Pray: “Lord, make New Covenant one heart and one people.”
Reflection Question:
How does unity prepare us for God’s future?
Child-Friendly Version:
Invite kids: “Let’s pray that our church stays strong and close together.”
Ephesians 4:3 — “endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Lord, help me be a person who builds unity. Purify my heart and align me with Your Spirit. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
Colossians 3:14-15 — “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”
Father, unite our church household. Make us a people of peace, love, and humility. Lead us forward as one. [Pray from your heart.] In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
